Workshop on Solid Waste Management in Jacobabad
Experts from the U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W), Dr Tanveer Ahmed Gadhi, recently conducted a consultative workshop with the staff of Municipal Corporation Jacobabad to review the Draft Solid Waste Management Plan and reviewed a Composting Demonstration Unit Plan for the Municipal Service in Jacobabad. This activity was part of the “Water Governance for Sindh Activity Project, funded by USAID.” and Implementing partner Hands Pakistan.
The workshop provided a platform for in-depth discussions and reviews of the proposed Solid Waste Management Plan tailored for Jacobabad. Experts shared insights, recommendations, and best practices to optimize waste management strategies. As part of sustainable waste management, a Composting Demonstration Unit was presented to showcase practical approaches to composting—the demonstration aimed to educate stakeholders on eco-friendly waste disposal methods. The workshop fostered meaningful engagement with key stakeholders, including municipal officials, environmental experts, and community representatives. Collaborative discussions sought to address local challenges and ensure the plan aligns with the community’s needs.
