World Water Day 2024 Conference on “Water for Peace” organized by HANDS Pakistan and USAID at Jacobabad, Sindh, in Collaboration with the U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water, Mehran UET under the Water Governance For Sindh Activity Project.
The conference aimed to Raise Awareness, Promote willingness to pay and Community Engagement, Ensure Equitable Access to Clean Water, Strengthen Partnerships and Collaboration, and Advocate for Policy Change. This year’s theme, “Water for Peace”, highlights the critical need for universal access to clean water
and sanitation, particularly in the face of global challenges such as climate change, population growth, and environmental degradation.
The Director of USPCAS-W, Prof. Dr Kamran Jan Ansari, led the plenary session covering topics such as policy frameworks, community involvement, and the role of technology in WASH. The National Water Center (USPCAS-W) also displayed their research products and projects at the conference.
The World Water Day celebration served as a platform for interactive dialogue, sharing of learnings, and collaboration among district-level WASH sector partners for improving climate-resilient water and sanitation services.
