Vice Chancellor MUET met USPCAS-W Faculty and Staff
Vice Chancellor Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET) Jamshoro Dr. Mohammad Aslam Uqaili said the US-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W) with the technical support of University of Utah will achieve set targets successfully within the framework of time, this recently launched USAID supported water center is first and foremost state of the art advanced studies and research based water center which will help out for the solution of water challenges of Pakistan. This he said while presiding a meeting of faculty and administrative staff of USPCAS-W.
He said that MUET has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with University of Utah, USA during the recent visit of USPCAS-W MUET delegation to United States, this MoU agreement sets out goals, anticipated roles and responsibilities for both universities in making USPCAS-W a success, he added. In experience sharing of recent visit to USA, Vice Chancellor said that people of United States are very much dedicated and committed to research and studies and they have state of art educational institutes. While quoting the library area, he said that University of Utah has modern library on area around 7 acres which shows the tremendous interest of their learning and love to education and research.
MUET Vice Chancellor Dr. Uqaili said that this water research center will produce around 250 PhD and MS scholars in various water research fields, who also will be given scholarships, exchange opportunities for learning and research to partner and universities of United States.
He said that the proposed building of USPCAS-W will be completed within two year time period and it would be the modern state of the art building equipped with modern facilities for research. The Vice Chancellor further said that MUET Jamshoro is seat of higher learning, research and for professional growth which is more focused to provide quality education on merit to the students belonging marginalized communities of the country and Sindh Province. He further said that qualified MUET graduate engineers and research scholars serving the country according to their abilities and capabilities with great enthusiasm.
In this experience sharing meeting, Project Director Prof. Dr. Bakhshal Khan Lashari briefed regarding recent MoU signing with MUET partner University of Utah for USPCASW. He said that management of Utah University has assured their full cooperation and support for future research joint ventures regarding water research and water challenges to Pakistan. He said that USPCAS-W will pave the way for future water research opportunities for young scholars and scientists. On this occasion, Dr. Lashari thanked Vice Chancellor Dr. Uqaili for his kind support and cooperation for uplift of USPCAS-W. Faculty Members and Administrative Staff of USPCAS-W participated in this experience sharing meeting.
