USPCAS-W visited some desert areas of Umarkot Thar
In order to observe local water and sanitation issues and hygiene conditions of Thar Desert of Sindh provinces, a group of faculty and researchers of USPCAS-W MUET and University of Utah led by Dr. Rasool Bux Mahar, professor and sectional head of Environment Engineering of the Center visited some desert areas of Umerkot, the gate way to Thar Desert.
It exists at the border of barrage and arid region. It lies in the southeastern part of Sindh. It has a human population of 0.7 million. The group identified various research areas for students and faculty for applied research, for capacity building and also for the development of the region.
Dr. James A. VanDerslice, Associate Professor Public Health, University of Utah, USA, Ms. Uzma Imran, Assistant Professor, Mr. Awais Anwar Chandio Baloch, Assistant Professor, Mr. Jamil Ahmed Soomro, Assistant Professor, Mr. Mehran Khan, Lab. Technician of the Center, were among the group visited the Thar Desert.
