Recommendations
In research collaboration meeting, Dr. AbuBakar suggested that USPCAS-W, MUET can play active role in this water project of NED (DAAD German Funding). Dr. Abdul Khalique Ansari reiterated support of USPCAS-W in this project and gave a brief account of 1st meeting held on SMART Irrigation in MUET with USPCAS-W faculty and farmers on 1st April 2016. Dr.Khuram appreciated the support of MUET faculty and for arranging the visit for Moden Agriculture Farm atTandoSoomro.
Dr. SaqibBukhari recommended NED team to finalizing the identification of the field with the help of USPCAS-W. He also said that there is need of detailed meeting between NED and USPCAS-W teams, so that project can be started as early as possible.
Dr. AbuBakar discussed that the development of platform (Google database /Social website / yahoo groups) is necessary especially from Pakistan, where researchers/ academia share their expertise on different projects. The strong linkages need to bedeveloped between various universities across Pakistan.
During the meeting, Engr. RehanHakro discussed about technical aspects of the NED project, more specifically on sensors and its installation and calibration in different fields.
Conclusion:
1. The NED university team will visit the suitable agriculture farms which are using Sprinkler or Drip Irrigation System in Sindh.
2. After the proper survey and working, the sensors will be installed in the Banana Farm visited and other locations which have employed controlled irrigation.
