
USPCAS-W Joins 9th International Conference on Water Security and WASH Challenges
Riphah International University organised the 9th International Conference on Water Security and Socio-economic Development in collaboration with PCRWR, COMSTECH, WaterAid, the University of Haripur, and other partners. The event occurred from May 6 to 7, 2025, at the OIC COMSTECH Secretariat in Islamabad. The conference aimed to promote dialogue among multiple stakeholders and featured paper presentations on topics such as Environment and Climate Change, Food and Agriculture, Glaciology and Snow Hydrology, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Circular Water Economy, Policy and Governance, and AI for Water Security.
One thematic session, “Navigating the Challenges of WASH,” was held in the conference room at USPCAS-W, MUET, Jamshoro. Dr. Naveed Ahmed Qambrani, Associate Professor at USPCAS-W, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, chaired this session. Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, Assistant Professor at USPCAS-W, delivered a keynote speech on “Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Challenges in Pakistan, with a Special Focus on Sindh.”
MS students and research assistants from USPCAS-W also participated in the conference by presenting their abstracts on various topics. The presenters included Ms. Sadaf Tagar, Ms. Rabiha Islam, Mr. Shakir Abbas, Ms. Sunbul Tanveer, Ms. Ghulam Fatima, Mr. Muhammad Naseem, Ms Bakhtawer Javed, Ms. Kanwal Asan Das, and Mr. Zeeshan Ahmed.
