U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr Donald Blome, was at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro and visited the U.S.- Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W) @ Mehran University, funded by USAID Pakistan in partnership with The University of Utah.
Prof. Dr Tauha Hussain Ali, Vice Chancellor MUET, and Dr Kamran Ansari, Director USPCAS-W, welcomed Mr Blome and gave him a tour of the Center. Prof. Dr Rasool Bux Mahar, Vice Chancellor Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology and Skill Development Khairpur Mirs, former Vice Chancellor MUET Prof. Dr Mohammad Aslam Uqaili, Deans of faculty and other faculty were also present during the visit.
The U.S. government established three centres for Water, Energy and Agricultural advanced studies at several Pakistani universities that support applied research and innovative solutions for Pakistan’s water, energy, and food security challenges.
The Center for Advanced Studies in Water at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Sindh provides innovative solutions to challenges in the water sector through applied research. It also produces Master’s and PhD level graduates who are better prepared to meet the needs of industry, government, and their communities, and it creates leadership in policy dialogue.
