Three-Day Training Workshop on “Geo-informatics” concluded at USPCAS-W, MUET Jamshoro
Vice Chancellor Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET) Prof. Dr. Mohammad Aslam Uqaili said to benefit the community at large the modern scientific application were being built on the latest research based knowledge and such applications works for socio-economic development of the common people, this he said while delivering his speech in the conclusion ceremony of three-day training workshop on “Geo-informatics” at U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W).
Dr. Uqaili said that role of the universities in the modern world has widened, educational institutes not only imparting education and award degrees but working for research and development. He said it is need of the time for academia to uplift the society at large. He said that MUET has submitted five to seven patents to work for the betterment of the community. Vice Chancellor MUET said that USPCAS-W is national level center and with performance of its management this center will be recognized across the globe. He further said that such training courses will be organized to facilitate the researchers at national level. On this occasion, Project Director Prof. Dr. Bakhshal Khan Lashari said that through the guided vision of the vice chancellor MUET, this center is moving to the right direction. Dr. Lashari said that with the technical support of University of Utah, this center striving its best for achieving the goals and targets.
In the conclusion ceremony, the certificates were distributed among twenty participants who came from different parts of the province to participate in this three-day training workshop supported by Unites States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP). The training focal person of the event Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal told that three-day Geo-informatics workshop was consisting of different modules including Geographical Information System (GIS), Satellites and Remote Sensing and others. He further said that aim of the workshop was to build the capacity of the faculty and students of the related fields.
Dr. Mohammad Aslam Chaudhry, Chief of Party USPCAS-W, University of Utah, USA, Prof. Dr. Sajjad Ahmed from University of Nevada, USA, Dr. Kamran Ansari, Deputy Director USPCAS-W, Mohammad Shahid Panhwar, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist USPCAS-W, Prof. Shafi Mohamamd Kori, Waqas Ahmed, Ghulam Hussain Dars, Ghulam Ali Nizamani, Awais Anwar Chandio and other faculty members of USPCAS-W were present in conclusion ceremony.
