Six Faculty Members of USPCAS-W MUET at United States on Exchange Program
Six Faculty Members of U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W) of Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET) went United States on exchange program of USAID funded project of water research center of MUET Jamshoro. Faculty members including Prof. Dr. M. Munir Babar, Prof. Dr. Rasool Bux Mahar, Dr. Syeda Sara Hasan , Mr. Wali Muhammad Daudpota, Ms. Uzma Imran and Ms. Rakshanda Bano. They will spend four to six months in American universities for their learning and research purposes. Dr. Babar and Mr. Daudpota will be in Colorado State University while rest of the faculty will stay in University of Utah which is partner university of MUET in providing technical support to this water research center.
Before their departure to USA, Project Director Dr. Bakhshal Khan Lashari chaired orientation meeting with them at ORIC building MUET Jamshoro. In the meeting Dr. Lashari said that USPCAS-W aims at producing highly qualified water experts in the field of water resource engineering and management through creating an effective teaching, research and learning infrastructure, stakeholder engagement and partnerships. Fulfilling its gender commitments, in the six faculty members going to United States Universities on exchange program during first phase of this project, among them 3 are women faculty members.
The tangible deliverables of the Center include postgraduate degree programs, applied policy research, facilitation of public-private partnerships, and provision of policy advice in a range of water related disciplines including meeting the needs of industry, communities and government.
The MUET faculty members will be intensively engaged in learning and innovation experiences at their host American universities to strengthen their capacities in water related technologies to solve the pressing issues in water sector faced by Pakistan today.
Dr. Kamran Ansari – Deputy Project Director-CASW-MUET, Dr. Sajjad Ahmed– Technical Adviser to USPCAS-W, University of Nevada Las Vegas USA, Ms. Shabnam Baloch – Gender and Communication Expert USA, Dr. Rafique Chandio Director Administration-CASW-MUET, M.Shahid Panhwar– M&E Specialist-CASW-MUET also attended this meeting.
