Orientation Ceremony for 2019-Batch held at USPCAS-W Mehran University
The orientation ceremony for 6th Batch enrolled in Post Graduate Program – 2019 offered by U.S.-Pakistan Centre for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W), Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) Jamshoro, was held on Monday. Speaking in the ceremony, Deputy Director USPCAS-W MUET Dr. Rasool Bux Mahar congratulated new batch for their induction in desired disciplines, namely; Hydraulics, Irrigation, and Drainage (HID), Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), Environmental Engineering (ENV.ENG) and Water, Sanitation and Health Sciences (WaSH). In his welcome address, Dr. Mahar said that you arethe author of this new chapter of life ahead and blessed to have the fields that you chose. He urged the students to utilize the tenure of their degree programs in not only acquiring the academic knowledge but also spend more time in research and development as this center that is established to resolve water issues in Pakistan. He stated that USPCAS-W has state-of-the-art infrastructure, facilities, labs and the only institute in country, having most advanced technology to conduct research in water and related studies.Among other speakers, Prof. Dr. Kamran Ansari (Assistant Professor, USCAS-W) delivered detailed presentation to provide academic guidelines. He described the core values and information, such as; Scholarships, Stipend,Academic Calendar, Credit Hours, Attendance & Examination Policy, Grading System and also introduced faculty members to newly inducted students. “Plagiarism Policy has zero tolerance that highly encourages the integrity, transparency and innovation”, he added. He also shared the eligibility criteria for the exchange program at the University of Utah – USA. Whereas, Mr. Shahid Panhwar (Monitoring &Evaluation Specialist) demonstrated Learning Management System (LMS). He presented the overview of LMS and emphasized its importance to make students ease throughout their academic session. The orientation ceremony was concluded with Q&A session.
