MS / PhD Pre-Admission Test in USPCAS-W, MUET on June 05, 2016
The Entry test for the admission in Master of Sciences (MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), fall session 2016 in U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W) at Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET) Jamshoro to be held on Sunday; June 05, 2016 at five centers throughout Pakistan simultaneously at 11am. The pattern of admission test question paper will be Graduate Record Examination (GRE) type pattern having maximum 100 marks to be completed in time of 2 hours. This 2nd Batch is going to be enrolled in four different MS/PhD programs which includes Hydraulics, Irrigation and Drainage (HID), Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), Environmental Engineering (Env.Eng) and newly introduced two years MS program in Water, Sanitation and Health Sciences (WaSHS) at USPCAS-W, MUET Jamshoro. To facilitate the interested candidates, five pre-admission test centers at different parts of the country have been established, first at Pakistan Scientific & Technological Information Center (PASTIC), Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, second at New Academic Block, U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy (USPCAS-E), University of Engineering & Technology (UET), Peshawar, third at Department of Agriculture Engineering, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, fourth at Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering & Management Sciences (BUITEMS) Takatu Campus, Quetta and fifth at Old Administration Building, MUET, Jamshoro.
Admission Committee comprising of Deputy Director USPCAS-W Dr. Kamran Ansari, Prof. Dr. Abdul Latif Qureshi, Program Coordinator Mr. Muhammad Ali Nizamani, has scrutinized the admission forms. After scrutiny, 566 applications were approved among them 539 applicants are for MS and 27 candidates have applied for PhD program. The enrolled students will be given monthly stipend of Rs. 15,000/= for the duration of degree program and also they will be given exchange opportunities at Universities of United States of America (USA) primarily at University of Utah, USA.
The United States Government and Government of Pakistan have partnered together to establish a state of the art Centers for Advanced Studies in Energy, Agriculture and Food Security and in Water. MUET Jamshoro was selected for water center financially supported by United States Agency for International Development (USAID),which is dedicated to resolving Pakistan’s water crises through providing world class education in different water related disciplines, undertaking applied & policy research; developing specialized human resources and technical capacities, and promoting academia-industry collaboration. In preparing the next generation of water sustainability leaders, the center encourages female students and researchers to take an advantage of the opportunities being offered. USPCAS-W technically supported by the University of Utah, USA as a partner University for the Establishment of this Center.
