MS/PhD Entrance Test in USPCAS-W, MUET on July 29
The entrance test for MS/PhD fall session 2017 in U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W) at Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET) Jamshoro to be held today at 10:00 a.m. in five different centers simultaneously including Jamshoro, Peshawar, Islamabad, Quetta and Multan. Total 430 include 50 females are going to appear throughout the country in the mentioned test Centers.
The pattern of the test will be the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General type pattern, having maximum 100 marks to be completed in time of 2 hours by the candidates appearing for MS whereas the PhD aspirants will have to complete within 3 hours. The 3rd Batch is going to be enrolled in four different MS/PhD degree courses which including Hydraulics, Irrigation and Drainage (HID), Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), Environmental Engineering (Env.Eng) and so far, MS program in Water, Sanitation and Health (WaSH) Sciences at USPCAS-W, MUET Jamshoro.
To facilitate the candidates, five pre-admission examination test centers at different parts of the country have been established, first at Pakistan Scientific & Technological Information Center (PASTIC), Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, second at New Academic Block, U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy (USPCAS-E), Hayatabad Peshawar, third at Department of Agriculture Engineering, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, fourth at Water Research Center (WRRC), Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR), Quetta, and the fifth is at Old Administration Building, MUET Jamshoro.
There were 1176 applicants who got online registration for the admission, among them 457 aspirants have submitted applications along with all requirements i.e. copies of relevant documents and challans. Finally 430 candidates were finally declared eligible to appear in the entrance test which is on Saturday, July 29, 2017. Among 430 candidate, 46 will appear for the admission in the PhD program whereas 384 will take test for admission in MS program of the Center. After the whole process, the finally enrolled students will be given full scholarship covering fees for admission, tuition, library books. Apart from the free research and transport facilities, the enrolled scholars will be given monthly stipend of Rs.15,000/= for the whole duration of their degree course, whereas the girls students will be given free hostel accommodation besides these all facilities. The competitive students who meet the mentioned criteria will be given exchange scholarship opportunities at different universities of United States of America (USA) primarily at University of Utah, which is the partner university provides the technical support to MUET for advancing the development and growth of the Center.
The United States Government and Government of Pakistan have partnered together to establish a state of the art Centers for Advanced Studies in Energy, Water, Agriculture and Food Security. MUET Jamshoro was selected for water center, financially supported by US Agency for International Development (USAID), which is dedicated to resolving Pakistan’s water crises through providing world class education in different water related disciplines.
