Fulbright Scholarship Information Session held at USPCAS-W MUET
An information session on Fulbright scholarship program was organized at U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W), Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) Jamshoro for MS Students of USPCAS-W. Ms. Hadiqa Maqsood, Assistant Professor at USPCAS-W, who has been recently awarded the Fulbright PhD Scholarship, conducted the session. While conducting the session specifically on the PhD program of the Fulbright scholarship program, she informed the students regarding the eligibility selection criteria, scholarship grant, applicant’s capacity parameters, essays and requirements of documents.
She said since the energy, water and agriculture have been included as priority areas in the scholarship program for the selection of the candidates, the students of USPCAS-W are being encouraged to avail such golden opportunities of learning and research by applying for the program. Fulbright scholars pledged to contribute to the solution of Pakistan’s most pressing problems in energy, water and agriculture sectors using their expertise skills, research and knowledge after completion of the degrees, she added.
She informed that United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) was established in 1950 by the governments of Pakistan and the United States to administer a variety of educational exchange programs, including the Fulbright Program which is the prestigious flagship program of US Government funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and supported by Government of Pakistan. She also technically guided the students for writing study objective, personal statement and additional information required for the submission of application form. On this occasion, the students participated in the question and answer session held after the scholarship information session. Mr. Muhammad Ali Nizamani, Assistant Professor and academic coordinator of USPCAS-W moderated the session.
