A World Bank delegation explores collaboration opportunities with USPCAS-W on climate resilience infrastructure at village level
An esteemed delegation from The World Bank, led by Mr Babar Naseem Khan, Senior Social Development Specialist, and Mr Naseer Memon, Consultant, visited the U.S.- Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W), Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET). The visit aimed to explore potential collaborations and research opportunities related to climate resilience infrastructure at the village level.
Accompanied by Prof. Dr Kamran Jan Ansari, Director of USPCAS-W, the World Bank delegates were given a comprehensive tour of the state-of-the-art laboratories and infrastructure at USPCAS-W. The center is renowned for its expertise in water-related research and its commitment to addressing the challenges posed by climate change.
During the meeting, Dr Ansari presented an overview of the completed and ongoing research portfolio and consultancies of USPCAS-W. He highlighted the center’s significant contributions in various thematic areas, including Climate Change, Water and Food Security, Floods and Drought Forecasting, Groundwater modelling, Soil and Water Salinity, Socio-Economic Impact, WaSH, Capacity Building and Data and Info Platform.
USPCAS-W and The World Bank look forward to fostering a long-term partnership that will positively impact water security and community well-being in Pakistan and the broader region.
