National Conference on Water and Environment (NCWE)
Two-Day 1st Young Researchers’ National Conference on Water and Environment (NCWE) organized by the students of U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W) will be held on May 22 & 23, 2017 at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) Jamshoro. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Aslam Uqaili, Vice Chancellor MUET who is the chief patron of the conference will be the chief guest in the conference and Jeffrey L. Ullman, the guest of the honor form University of Utah USA will chair the first plenary session. The key note speakers of the conference are Mr. Arif Hassan Khan, the architect and urban planner, will deliver talk on the Urbanization Trend and Environmental Issues in Karachi, another speaker Mr. Nadeem Ahmad, Manager Policy and Advocacy in Water Aid will speak on SDGs and Water: Thematic Integration, Implementation and Monitoring of SDG-6. The inaugural session of the conference will be held in the main auditorium of the University and the technical sessions will be conducted in the Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) MUET Jamshoro. Dr. Bakhshal Khan Lashari, Project Director USPCAS-W and patron of the conference told that the aim of the two-day conference is to provide an ideal academic platform to young researchers and scholars from all over the country to share their latest findings about the water and environment related issues. Prof. Dr. Rasool Bux Mahar, Deputy Director (Academics and Research) also the convener of the conference told that the conference is basically a research paper presentation competition among the students of the country on the different water and environment related themes. The USPCAS-W students of the two-day conference organizing committee briefed that the technical sessions of the conference will focus on the different themes of Environment Engineering (Env.Eng.), Water and Sanitation and Health (WaSH) Sciences, Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) and Hydraulics, Irrigation and Drainage (HID). The organizing committee informed that total 104 abstracts, 72 detailed research papers were submitted and finally 63 papers have been accepted includes 11 posters, which will be presented in the conference. Dr. Bakhshal Khan Lashari, Project Director USPCAS-W, chaired the meeting to review the arrangements of the conference and consequently, several committees and subcommittees were formed.
