Seminar on Progress and Outcomes of HEC Funded Projects
The U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water, Mehran University of Engineering & Technology, Jamshoro, took a momentous step in advancing knowledge by organizing a Seminar on HEC Funded Projects, Progress, and Outcomes. This event served as a platform for the principal experts of these projects to present their remarkable progress and achievements under the umbrella of HEC-funded initiatives.
The visionary Vice-Chancellor, BBSUTSD, Khairpur Mirs and Principal Investigator, Prof. Dr Rasool Bux Mahar, shared the astounding progress of the HEC-TDF project, designed to upscale Anaerobic digestion technology, co-digesting textile sludge and livestock waste to create renewable energy and organic fertilizer. It’s a sustainable solution that also advances academic R&D and eco-friendly sludge management.
The Director of USPCAS-W and PI of the Project, Prof. Dr Kamran Jan Ansari’s insights into “Conserving Indus River Water Quality” were enlightening. The project tracks water pollution sources, deploys modern quality assessment techniques, and promotes a water circular economy. It’s a visionary approach to safeguard the River Indus’s health while integrating circular economy principles.
Under the Combined Adsorption Distillation Techniques project, Assistant Professor of USPCAS-W, Dr Tanveer Ahmed Gadhi’s work on combined adsorption distillation techniques offers a game-changing solution for treating saline water and producing freshwater. It’s designed to operate using waste heat from industrial power generators, benefiting multiple industries with sustainable water purification. These projects have filed patents, and they’re ready to revolutionize water treatment.
The seminar united experts from Al-Rahim Textile, Soorty Industries, government, academia, and Mehran UET. Certificates of recognition celebrated their immense contributions, and the interactive Q&A session deepened our understanding of groundbreaking research.
