
8th Meeting of the Hydro-Agro Informatics Program Committee Held at USPCAS-W
The 8th Meeting of the Committee for the Implementation of the Hydro-Agro Informatics (HAI) Program, part of the Sindh Water & Agriculture Transformation (SWAT) project, was held today at the U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W) at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology in Jamshoro, chaired by Mr. Nazir Ahmed Memon (Project Coordinator, PCMU, SWAT, Planning & Development Department, GoS). The meeting focused on reviewing and approving the revised Gap Analysis and Need Assessment Report for Phase I of the HAI Program and discussing future steps for its design and sustainability.
Key attendees included Mr Jamaluddin Mangan (Project Director, SWAT), Mr G. Mustafa Ujjan (Program Implementation Advisor, ADU, SWAT), Dr Liaqat Ali Bhutto (Project Director, ADU, SWAT, Agriculture Department, GoS), Mr Ghulam Hyder (Monitoring & Evaluation, PCMU), Mr Muhammad Umer Karim (FAO), and other officials from the Sindh Irrigation and Agriculture Department attended the meeting.
Prof. Dr Kamran Ansari, Director of USPCAS-W, presented insights on the HAI Phase-I Gap Analysis and Need Assessment report, HAI Services, and Frameworks. Esteemed HAI experts from USPCAS-W, including Prof. Dr Bakhshal Lashari, Prof. Dr Abdul Latif Qureshi, Prof. Dr Kazi Suleman, Dr Ghulam Hussain Dars, Dr Tanveer Ahmed, and Mr Naeem Dal, also contributed to the vibrant discussions.
The HAI Program, funded by the World Bank under the SWAT project, aims to revolutionise water and agricultural management in Sindh by leveraging advanced technologies to provide real-time data for optimised water usage, enhanced crop productivity, and climate change mitigation.
