Water, Sanitation and Health (WASH) and Water Quality
Public health engineering is crucial in safeguarding community health by ensuring access to safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities. This interdisciplinary field combines engineering, environmental science, and public health principles to design, implement, and maintain infrastructure and systems that protect public health. Public health engineers are involved in various activities, including the design and construction of water supply systems, wastewater treatment plants, and sanitation facilities, as well as the monitoring of water quality and the assessment of environmental health risks. By addressing challenges such as waterborne diseases, pollution, and inadequate sanitation, public health engineering significantly improves the overall well-being and quality of life in communities worldwide.
