USPCAS-W in Collaboration with WaterAid Pakistan Hosts Two-Day Training on WASH Asset Mapping and Improving the Water Supply Schemes

The National Water Center, US-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W) at Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET) successfully conducted a two-day technical training on “WASH Asset Mapping and Improving Water Supply Schemes” for the PHERDD Badin team, in collaboration with WaterAid Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Shahnawaz Shan, Project Coordinator at WaterAid Pakistan, noted that this training is a direct outcome of research conducted by USPCAS-W on public water supply schemes in Badin district. He emphasised the importance of turning research insights into practical solutions directly benefiting local communities.

Mr Saqib Ghulam Ali Kalwer, Executive Engineer at PHERDD Badin, appreciated the joint efforts of WaterAid and USPCAS-W and encouraged his team to actively participate in the sessions to strengthen their technical and problem-solving skills.

The training was delivered by USPCAS-W faculty, including the Director of USPCAS-W, Prof. Dr Kamran Ansari, Dr Muhammad Ali, and Dr Tanveer Ahmed. Participants also visited the USPCAS-W-MUET Water Treatment Plant and MUET RO Plant, where they gained hands-on experience in troubleshooting and operations under the guidance of technical staff. As part of the practical learning component, participants collected water samples from the field, which were later tested in USPCAS-W laboratories with support from trained lab staff.

This initiative reflects USPCAS-W’s commitment to building local technical capacity and advancing sustainable water management practices in Sindh, paving the way for stronger, more resilient water supply systems.
