USPCAS-W Celebrates World Water Day & International Day of Zero Waste with Impactful Event

The U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W) commemorated World Water Day and the International Day of Zero Waste through an engaging and impactful event aimed at promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility.

The event was thoughtfully organised by the USPCAS-W faculty members, Dr Tanveer Ahmed Gadhi, Dr Syeda Sara Hussain, and Ms Sana Saeed, with the valuable support and encouragement of the Director of USPCAS-W, Prof. Dr Kamran Ansari.

The initiative brought together students, researchers, faculty members and staff to raise awareness on water conservation and waste reduction. Aligning with the World Water Day 2026 theme of gender equality, the event emphasised that water access and waste management are closely linked to social equity, particularly impacting women and vulnerable communities.

The day began with powerful documentary screenings that showcased global water challenges and innovative zero-waste solutions, leaving the audience informed and inspired.

Students then presented thought-provoking tableau performances that creatively depicted the struggles of water scarcity, followed by informative GIS posters showcasing innovative ideas, scientific insights, and strong messages advocating sustainable water management and climate action.
A key highlight of the event was the display of scientific projects focused on water treatment and reuse technologies, demonstrating how research can provide real-world solutions to environmental challenges.
