Grants Award Process

All registered Research Institutes, Universities (HEC approved), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in applied and policy-oriented research related to water issues are eligible to apply for research grants. The private organizations (NGOs/CSOs) must at least be registered for a minimum period of 5 years prior to applying for this research grant program.

Application Process
All applications must be submitted using the application form available at the following link. Applied Research Grants Please strictly follow the guidelines/instructions mentioned in the form. Incomplete applications will not be processed for evaluation.

Research Grant Amount 
Maximum amount permissible for each research grant is Rs. 3.0 million. This amount will not be subject to revision even if the project duration is extended.

Project Duration 
The projects funded under this grant are required to be completed within one year, but it will be possible to consider an extension for another year depending upon the nature of the project and justification provided by the applicant. For this, the awardee must apply in writing one month prior to the termination date of the agreement.

Selection Process
In evaluating the quality and relevance of research proposal, several factors will be considered, such as the relevance of the proposal to the selected theme, technical and managerial competencies of the Principal Investigator, equipment and facilities available to implement the project, and potential for leveraging additional funds etc.
